IFS integration with the rest of your estate
Connecting IFS to the systems, services and equipment around it, so data moves reliably without manual re-entry, and keeps moving after the next release.
IFS rarely works alone. Orders arrive from eCommerce, payments go to the bank, machines on the shop floor report what they made, and service desks raise work. Every manual handover between those systems costs time and introduces errors. We build integrations that remove them, and that keep working as IFS changes.
How IFS integrates
IFS Cloud exposes its functionality as REST APIs (OData projections), secured with OAuth through IFS's identity and access management. Together with event actions, which push changes out as they happen, and IFS Connect for messaging and file-based exchange, they cover most needs. Because these APIs are supported and versioned by IFS, integrations built on them come through updates far better than direct database access. On IFS Applications we work with IFS Connect, web services and, where necessary, the Oracle layer.
What we connect IFS to
- Finance, banking and payments, including VAT returns to HMRC with V2 MTD
- CRM, eCommerce and customer portals
- Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365: Azure Functions, Logic Apps and Service Bus
- Shop floor equipment, hardware devices and third-party service desks, with bespoke integrations built for your setup
- Document signing with V2 SignFlow, and bulk documents with V2 Attach
How we build an integration
- Design. Which system owns which data, the direction and frequency of each flow, and what happens when something fails.
- Security. A dedicated client in IFS with only the permissions the integration needs, and secrets kept out of code.
- Build and test. Against a test environment first, with realistic data and the failure cases tested deliberately.
- Monitoring. Errors that alert someone rather than fail silently, and a log that shows what moved and when.
- Documentation. So your team, or the next partner, can see how it works.
Integrations are part of your CRIMs, so we retest them with every service update and release.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need middleware to integrate with IFS Cloud?
Not always. Many integrations call IFS Cloud's REST APIs directly or use event actions. Middleware such as Azure Logic Apps or Service Bus earns its place when several systems are involved, volumes are high, or messages must be queued and retried.
Will our integrations break when IFS Cloud is updated?
Integrations built on IFS's supported, versioned APIs are far more resilient than ones that read or write the database directly. We still retest them with each service update and release.
Can IFS integrate with shop floor machines and hardware?
Yes. We build bespoke integrations that connect IFS to shop floor equipment and hardware devices, so production data flows into IFS automatically without manual re-entry.
